A Very Small Craft Fair in Castle Rock

I posted this to the Yahoo message board/threads, but I thought I would post a note about it here too. My church in Castle Rock will be holding a small craft fair on November 8th. Currently there are 14 tables available, but we are trying to work out some logistics to be able to add a few more. This is only the second year that the church has held this fair, but last year it was quite a success. The table fee is $15.00 and the fair is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The church asks that when you choose your items to bring to sell that you respect the fact that you will be within the confines of a church. I posted further details, including who and how to contact on the yahoo boards or you can convo me at my etsy shop, sidewingcreations.

I hope some of you will be able to come to the fair to sell, buy or browse. I would love a chance to get to know you in person!! I haven't had the chance to meet any of you face to face yet.

Gearing up for holiday sales has taken a lot of energy for me and I have been holed-up the last couple of weeks sorting my beads and taking stock of all my materials. I started a few projects, too. I don't know about everyone else, but I should not have more than 2 projects going at once. I get overwhelmed at what to finish first!!

I hope everyone's sales are going well!

Craft Shows

Hello everyone,
It has been a long time since I have been involved in our group, so I thought I would just check in.

I was hoping to find out about some up and coming art/craft shows for the Denver metro area for this fall. If anyone knows of any please let me know.

And for those also interested, I am doing the one at the Westminster Rec. Center in Dec. it is called the Santa Workshop. It is geared towards children and being able to afford to buy gifts for their family and friends. All items for sale are $8 and less. I believe registration is either at the end of this month or the beginning of Sept. I will keep everyone posted.

Also, my job holds a craft show every year closer to the holidays and we are trying to change it up a bit this year and allow outside crafters to join in. It would be one day only on a Friday and there would be a booth donation of $25 or more to join, which goes to a charity that our company will match dollar for dollar.

Hope to hear from some of you soon as the holiday are right around the corner.

Well, hail.

No, really.

It started out rain. Then looked like sleet, but it's been too warm for sleet, y'know? Then the next thing I knew it was hailing marbles and I would have sworn Santa's boys had got confused and were tapdancing on my roof.

Big marbles.

Really big marbles.

The first shot I took while it was still hailing -- crouched in the dubious shelter of the balcony half-wall, trying to fit as much of me as I could under my hat, and still getting nailed in the butt by FREAKING BIG HAILSTONES.

The second one? About twenty minutes after it stopped, once I'd had time to get the first set of shots off my camera. TWENTY MINUTES.

Holy cow.

Then this happened:

See, I'm from eastern Pennsylvania. We don't get tornadoes. So I was all like, wow, look at those swirling clouds, I wish I had a video camera. That siren? The fire sirens always go off during exciting storms.

...no, dummy, that's the tornado siren.

They don't have those where I come from.

...so yeah, anyway, it didn't actually turn into one, and even though I'm on the second floor and have no basement, I have a plan: grab the rat and head for the laundry room. It's halfway buried in the ground and well-protected and about as safe as I'm going to get. The cats are all in closets and under beds anyway, so they're on their own.

It's quiet now, and Tim has said that the birds are a better predictor of imminent excitement than anything else, so as long as they're still chirpy and happy I'm not worried.

In the meantime, one last photo. This one's for Tim.

...and that's what's happening in my part of Colorado! Anyone else getting exciting weather?

Introducing myself

I just joined the group. I opened my jewelry shop, sidewingcreations, in January. I have a passion for Swarovski Crystals. I just can't help myself!! A friend introduced me to the craft of jewelry making and I knew I must be OK at it when my daughter asked me to make the earring and necklace sets for her bridesmaids.

I'm married for 29 years, have 2 children, my daughter 22 who married last July and my son 24 who is single but rather serious with someone. We've lived in Castle Rock for the past 14 1/2 years and love it here.

Thank you for inviting me into this club. I need all the help I can get!!! :) Then, hopefully, I'll be able to return the favor to someone else!

Introducing e2 Designs

Hello Colorado!! I am a happily crazy SAHM of 2 lovable terrors in Fort Collins! In an attempt to keep some shred of sanity I create adorable baby items (usually in the wee hours of the morning!!) My store, e2designs, is named after my lovely daughter, Ella Elizabeth (e2!) whose passionate hatred of the "infant carrier" created a need for a jacket that didn't take 20 min to get on and off! Our solution - the poncho. Not so great when worn by drunken cowboys, but these updated, stylish looks are all the rage with the 14 and under set (and some VERY hip mammas!)

Hi Everyone!

Hi-
Our shop is a three generation family owned and operated. Sandy, Kellie and Joshua make up QuiteNice.etsy.com. We enjoy creating items that are useful and fun. Our inspirations come from our family, friends and of course, Colorful Colorado. Sandy is a native, Kellie, that's me, have lived here for over 15 years, and Joshua, my son, is a native as well. We enjoy crafting together as a family very much. We live on the west side of Colorado Springs. Our other full time passion is a home daycare, we also volunteer at Joshua's elementary school. Whew...we are really busy, but doing something you love is worth it. We are very happy to be a part of the etsymilehighclub!

Artist new to Denver seeks love and acceptance

Just kidding! Well, I really am new, but I think I've found all the rest!

Greetings all,

My name is Megan Savors. I moved to Denver recently from Charlotte, NC, and I love it here! In both weather and friendliness it reminds me of the area of PA and Ohio where I come from. What do I do? I make art jewelry and accessories, and sometimes when I get the itch, I sew a bit. Currently I sell my wares through my Etsy site www.artificestudios.etsy.com, but I'm looking for gallery and/or boutique representation. Drop me a line if you're a friendly local artist, or even if you're a mean one who has a suggestion as to where I can sell my stuff!

Megan

hello

Hello there, thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Alison. I live in Firestone with my dh and 4 kids. Crafting is my sanity-saver most of the time.
I have 2 stores on Etsy:
www.alison6love.etsy.com
www.stashhappy.etsy.com
Eventually I'd love to have my items in a brick & mortar store, but current conditions kind of make that hard.

Also, have a blog that I upkeep regularly: www.alisonlove.com/blog

a

Hello From Colorado Springs!

I love to make jewelry, but I think I love buying supplies and other items even more. I think I am just a shopper at heart with BIG ideas. I have so many ideas swimming in my head that half of them drown before I can get to them. I also love to write poetry and read. I am an unpracticing accountant right now, but that may change as my student loans are now due. Blah! I found out at the end of my schooling that I hate numbers and that I LOVE the arts. Actually, I kind of always knew this just never understood it until I took Art and Literature. I love to make friends and I love to talk to and watch people. I learn more about myself when I listen to others and I love to watch how other people react to the elements around them.

I live in Colorado Springs with my patient Husband, two girls, and three cats. I look forward to being a member of a team with those who are in the same state as well as having as much fun with this group as I do with the other groups that I am a member of.

groovygrrl intro

Hello all!

I am Amy Kalinchuk, soap maker and now crafty sewer. I plan on offering my sewed items in my etsy shop.

Olde Crone's Bewitching Bath Soap is the name of my other venture. All the soaps are handmade from scratch by me, in my kitchen. I also make lip balm, body balm, sugar scrub, facial cleansing oil, and a facial serum. I sell these things online and at a couple of farmer's markets--Old South Pearl Street and Historic Downtown Littleton.
In addition to these things, I'm an author and publisher, a public school teacher, and a mom. Whee!

Good fortune to all of you in your etsy endeavors!

Newbie

I am taking a crash course in Blogging tonight! But here I am! I made it in and want to introduce myself~
My name is Gretchen. I live in Colorado Springs. I am a Colorado native and have lived in this fabulous state all of my 30 years. I was born in Greeley, raised in Palmer Lake and received my BFA at Fort Lewis College in Durango with a focus in Bookbinding and Papermaking. I haven't had the space to resume that yet, but I have found a wonderful outlet in knitting, felting and needle felting.  I feel the need to create functional art and craft.

Thanks again for the opportunity to be part of your wonderful community!
